Whether you are looking for hitch racks, trunk racks, roof racks, spare tire racks or car/truck rack accessories, About-Bicycles has researched and selected the best online resources for bicycle car racks to help you find the right bicycle car rack online fast, easy and at great prices.
Vans and pick-ups (or a good size trunk and a removable wheel) come in very handy for bike transportation. If that is not an option though, or if you just have too many riders coming with you (my van limit is 3 (4 max if they are kid bikes)) or if you need the extra space... well you will be needing a bicycle car rack or vehicle bike rack to get to the best riding locations.

Rear Mount Bike Racks
Rear mount bike racks are the most popular vehicle bike racks and Trunk-Mounted Racks and Hitch-Mounted Racks are the most popular types of the rear mount bike racks. It's easy to load and unload bikes from rear mount bike racks and many come with swing away or fold down options to allow easy access to your trunk or cargo area.
Trunk-Mounted Racks - These bike racks will fit most vehicles and are easy to install and remove. There is a large selection to choose from and they are usually the most affordable. Trunk-mounted racks usually hold 2 to 3 bicycles but some models can hold up to 4 bikes.
Hitch-Mounted Racks - Requires a permanent hitch installed on the vehicle. If you already have a hitch installed on your vehicle, this may be the best option. Hitch-mounted bike racks can hold from 2 to 4 bikes and some models will carry 5 bikes (dependent on you hitch capacity). There are 2 kinds of hitch racks. The Tray Rack option has a tray for the bike tire and the bike stands upright. The Tube Top style hold bikes by the frame.
Spare Tire Bike Racks - These bike racks are limited to vehicles with a spare tire attached to the back of the vehicle and are usually only rated to hold 2 bikes max.
Roof Mount Bike Racks
Roof-Mount bike racks are not as popular as rear mount bike racks, but they do have some advantages and features not available with rear mounted bike racks. Roof-mount racks allow easy access to your trunk or cargo area and you may need a roof mount bike rack if you are pulling a camper, trailer, boat, etc. behind your car. These bike racks are also good for carrying recumbent and tandem bikes. Roof mount bike racks are available in fork mount (with the bikes front wheel removed) or upright mount.
Pickup Truck Bike Racks
If you have a pickup truck then you have this option. Pickup truck racks are very inexpensive, keep your bikes separated and allow for very easy loading and unloading of the bikes.
