Schwinn Exercise Bike Review

Schwinn has an impressive history in the outdoor bicycle and fitness bike industries and is a well known brand name in both of these markets. Schwinn has been making outdoor bikes since 1895 and has been making fitness bikes since 1978 when Schwinn introduced the still popular Schwinn Airdyne Fan Bike.

Schwinn was also in on the ground floor of the Spin® Bike industry, in the late 1980s, when they became the first company licensed to manufacture the original Spinner® Bikes (which were later produced by Star Trac®).

Schwinn sells Indoor Cycles, Upright and Recumbent Exercise Bikes in the low to middle price ranges and some models in the higher (commercial) price ranges.

The mid-range Upright and Recumbent models from Schwinn,have a good ergonomic design, are comfortable and easy to use, are manufactured well and are among the most popular fitness bikes on the market.

With the lower priced Schwinn models,, you get what you pay for. In this case, that is not necessarilary a good thing. I have found the lower priced Schwinn Upright and Recumbent models to be much lower quality and would not recommend these models for anything more than light to very moderate useage.

Schwinn Indoor Cycles are designed for more serious workouts and are in the higher commercial grade category. Schwinn has kept most of the classic Indoor Cycle features (such as high levels of adjustability, racing style seat and traditional "W" shaped racing handlebars) but the newer models are moving away from the friction based resistance (with the non-stop pedalling motion) in favor of a magnetic based resistance mechanism.

Reasons to Consider Schwinn Fitness Bikes

If you are looking for a very reasonably priced Recumbent or Upright, for in home use, that is designed well, built well, and has a good warranty from a reputable manufacturer then Schwinn will be one of your best choices.

All Schwinn models have comfortable and ergonomic designs, quiet magnetic resistance sytems, contact grip heart rate monitors and easy to use console and adjustments.

The Newest SchwinnFitness Bikes now come with a enhanced electronics, nice tablet holders, integrated speakers, water holders (some models) and more adjustments than in the past.

Schwinn Fitness has been creating the most affordable fitness bikes, for in-home use, for years now. Schwinn's higher end models are comfortable and sturdy bikes with plenty of features not found on other brands in this price range. The consoles, tablet / ebook holders and built in speakers give you more to do during your workout which helps pass the time in a better way.

Although there are lower priced upright brands, you should be very careful selecting low budget exercise bikes. You will not get the quality, features, company reputation or warranty that you get with Schwinn.

The mid-range Schwinn Uprights are excellent in home exercise bikes for moderate use.
