Livestrong LS6.0R Recumbent Review

The LS6.0R Recumbent Exercise Bike is the high end recumbent bike from Livestrong (excluding the much more expensive commercial grade recumbent models) and is the latest version of the original Livestrong recumbent exercise bike, the LS7.0B Livestrong LS6.0R Recumbent

Not only does your online purchase ensure a contribution to the LIVESTRONG® Foundation and the fight against cancer, Livestrong fitness bikes are high quality and include many extra options and features not available on any other recumbent.

I had the opportunity to review the LS6.0R Recumbent (along with the entire line of Livestrong Fitness Bikes (new and old) and compare the LS6.0R directly to the original recumbent bike from Livestrong (the LS7,0B) on my recent trip to Johnson Fitness, in Madison Wisconsin (the manufacturer of the Livestrong bikes) when I met with the product specialist for Livestrong exercise bikes and indoor cycles.

I have always been impressed with the quality of Livestrong Fitness Bikes and their console programs but to have the people directly involved in the engineering and assembly of these products explain the features and differences between the models was extremely helpful.

Note: The Livestrong LS6.0R Recumbent is no longer available from this site or no longer for sale online.

Please see our Exercise Bike Ratings page for a full listing of the exercise bikes that are available with prices and ratings.

(was selling  for $1,078 directly from Amazon).

Livestrong LS6.0R Recumbent Features

It can be overwhelming to get too far into the design and manufacturing details of Livestrong Stationary Bikes so I would like to summarize the key features of the LS6.0R:

  • Livetrack Interactive technology (downloadable and uploadable via the USB port),
  • Built in iPod/MP3 player jack and speakers,
  • Easy QuickZip ratcheting pedal straps,
  • Comfortable and highly adjustable oversized seat with lumbar support,
  • Contract grip heart rate monitor,
  • Strong Livestrong Warranty,
  • In addition to your workout, the donation to the Livestrong foundation when you purchase this product online should help you feel much better too!

Livestrong Interactive and MyPlate

One of the key features that you can not get from other manufacturers is the Livetrack Interactive technology which allows you to track all of the details of your workout in addition to uploading your workout data to Livestrong MyPlate via the USB port.

If you are not familiar with MyPlate, this is a free service offered on the Livestrong website that allows you to track your food and calorie intake along with your exercise and workout information.

Anyone can use the Livestrong MyPlate service (and share workout information with their friends, if they choose), but you would normally need to manually enter all of your information. The Livetrack Interactive technology, included with the Livestrong workout equipment, allows you to automatically upload your workout data to your computer via a USB port.

Livestrong Recumbent Model Comparison

Livestrong currently has 3 recumbent models in their sporting goods line and one model in their commercial line. The LS5.0R, a slightly downgraded and less expensive recumbent, The LS6.0R the high end sporting goods model (this model reviewed on this page), the LS7.0B, the original recumbent (replaced by the LS6.0R).

There is also the more expensive R1xLS Recumbent which is the Livestrong by Matrix commercial grade model.

The major differences between the older LS7.0B model and the LS6.0R model are:

  • The Seat Back - the LS7 (old) has a padded seat back and the LS6 (new) has a soft, sturdy, contoured mesh seat back.
  • The Console - The console and software have been upgraded for the newer LS6
  • The Overall Design - The LS6 has a newer sleeker and more finished look.

About-Bicycles Review

The mesh seat back and upgraded console are nice improvements over last year's model and make Livestrong LS6.0R Recumbent an excellent choice for a quality recumbent exercise bike in the $600-$800 price range.

One of the key features that you get on the LS6.0R Recumbent that you do not get on any other brand recumbent is the Livestrong Interactive feature which allows you to upload your workout stats to your PC and/or to download new workout routines to your console.

Many stationary bikes have some workout tracking features built into the console but the tracking is very limited and very few have anyway to move this data off of the bike in order to keep more permanent records.

If you like tracking your workouts and progress and/or sharing this information with friends and family, there is really nothing on the market that compares to the Livestrong Interactive feature.

You get many additional features not offered on other stationary bikes in this price range and the quality and warranties on this bike are excellent. I would definitely recommend this bike for anyone looking for a high quality midrange recumbent exercise bike.
