Proform has certainly found a niche with their inexpensive, mid-range Indoor Cycles.  Proform uses a similar design for most of their Indoor Cycle fitness bikes then adds more features and some better quality components to the more expensive models. Proform 315 IC Indoor Cycle

The Proform 315 IC is one of the newer Indoor Cycles from Proform and although it is priced just a little higher than their lowest priced training bikes, it comes with some nice extras.

Specifically, you get a nice console with the key workout stats ~ described below ~ which also accepts a Polar® heart-rate monitor and you get a couple of free workout DVDs.

The Proform 315IC console includes your RPM in a graphic and numeric format (top line), your heart-rate** and calories burned (kcal, middle line) and speed (average speed when you stop pedalling), distance, time, elapsed time or time of day (on the bottom line). You can also set a time goal and upper and lower heart-rate limits** if you choose. Console readings can be set to standard or metric (of course).

You may or may not care a lot about the Free Workout DVDs since some people prefer workout music, having a TV in view or other entertainment options to break the boredom and make your workout more entertaining but it is nice that they include these anyway which just gives you one more option.

The Proform 315 IC gives you the features that you expect from any Indoor Cycling Bike including Infinately adjustable Resistance via the felt pads, Quick Stop Braking with the brake lever, Fully Adjustable Seat (horizontally and vertically) Adjustable Handlebars (horizontally), non-slip handlebars with cross bars for more hand positions and Pedal Straps for a full cycling leg workout.

Even with the lower cost of this particular bike Proform still includes a electronic console that is Polar® Wireless Chest Heart Rate Monitor Compatible, water bottle holder, transport wheels and a 275lb weight capacity (which is also a good indication of the bikes durability reguardless of your own weight).

Proform Indoor Cycle Comparisons

The Proform 290 SPX is the very popular and economical low-end Indoor Cycle from Proform. The Proform 315 IC and the Proform 490 are the next step up and include the console, 275lb weight limit (vs 250) and better warranties. The Proform 590 is very smilar to the Proform 490 but includes a quieter and lower maintenance belt drive system.

The Proform 315IC is most similar to the Proform 490 except that it is priced a little lower and includes the free DVDs.

Proform changes their training bike lineup fairly often so, even though many of these bike are very similar, it may be hard to find all models online at any one time plus the prices change from time to time making one model a better deal than the other at that point in time.

About-Bicycles Review:

I like the Proform 315 IC as an affordable Indoor Cycle with an electronic console (compatible with wireless HR monitors) and some extra features that you do not always get with fitness bikes in its price range.

Although you do get some upgrades with this bike, keep in mind that this is still a mid-range indoor cycle and there are better models out there (although you are usually going to pay quite a bit more for them).

I have found Proform Indoor Cycles to be better quality than other brands in the mid to lower price ranges. Proform also has a pretty good warranty on the 315IC, which is a good indicator of the bikes quality, and gives you something to compare to when researching other indoor cycles in this price range.

The Proform 315 IC uses a chain drive system rather than the arguably quieter and lower maintenance belt drive system. This also helps to keep the cost of this bike down and many cyclists prefer the feel of a chain drive system anyway.

I would recommend the Proform 315 IC as a well made indoor cycle, with plenty of features and options not found on most indoor cycles in this price range.
