Illinois State Beach Bike Path - Photos
at Lake Michigan

Here's where we headed east on 9th street to enter the North Point Marina at the start of our bike rides at the Illinois State Beach.

This was really a nice area to hang out on a beautiful summer day...

OK, I had to get a photo of my bike at the beach... This is my Trek 1500 road bike...

We also got a photo of Dales Tour Easy recumbent with Lake Michigan in the background... I really like this bike!

Some typical beach scenery at Lake Michigan... The bike paths go along side Lake Michigan for quite a ways...

We also took some trips into the Woods at Illinois State Beach Park...

You can usually see the opening where Lake Michigan is even in the woods...

It was really pretty nice and peaceful here... and we got some shade!

We also took some rides on the roads through the park... I much prefer trail riding, but this wasn't too bad...

This is called the Dunnes Day Use area...

This gives a good feel for the beach paths through the woods...

...and of course some bridges even out here in the woods...

This is on our way to nuclear power plant just south ot the park...

This was some strange blockaid that we had to pass through just before the power plant area...

There are also some good path maps posted at various locations along the path...

Here's a shot of the power plant... (this was taken at midnight! (just kidding again!))

There was this nice wooden pathway and lookout point along the beach...

So I had to get a few photos of this... It was really a nice scenic area by Lake Michigan...

This photo shows how the bike path runs right along side the beach...

This is me (in the distance) riding along Lake Michigan... What a beautiful place to ride on a hot summer day...

This is a common site on this part of the Illinois State Beach Bike Path... I would highly recommend this ride!
