Schaumburg Road Access on PCT

This is where the Poplar Creek Trail intersects with the leg that goes out to Shaumburg Road just before you cross Bartlett and Bode Roads. I didn't explore that leg (since I was doing the entire Poplar Creek loop) but it is not very far to Schaumburg Road from here...

Bartlett and Bode Roads on PCT

The photo above shows where you come up to the Bartlett and Bode Road intersection. The PC Trail continues west of Bartlett Road and north of Bode Road so you actually need to cross both roads ahead.

Bartlett and Bode Roads on PCT

Although you need to cross both roads, this intersection is not a busy as some of the others that you cross on the PC trail. I didn't have any problem crossing here and didn't even need to wait for traffic.

PCT after crossing Bode Road

You get back into another slightly wooded area after crossing Bartlett and Bode Roads. The main part of the trail is all paved too as you can see in the photo above.

Bode Lake Entrance

As you start to go around the lakes here you get to the Bode Lake parking area and forest preserve. This parking area is access able from Bode Road.

The bike path wraps around Bode Lake at this point. Technically there are 2 Bode Lakes (north and south) and the bike path wraps around the southern lake.

The part of the trail that goes into the Bode Lake forest preserve and around the lakes is one of my favorite parts of the Poplar Creek bike path. I especially like that parts where the trail is very close to the lake as you ride by (there are some photos of this part of the trail on the next photo page in this series).

As you can see in the photo above this part of the trail (where it goes through the forest preserve) is well groomed with evenly spaced shade trees and mowed grass as opposed to the more wooded parts of the trail and the open prairie sections.

Here's the photo tour of the Poplar Creek Bike trail from June, 2009.
