Lighthouse to Nicolet Bay

A little further north on the trail you can take a short path out to the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse. The lighthouses are pretty cool but you could not just go up into this one. I think the sign said that you could go up on tours at various times.

This photo was taken near the lighthouse and you can see that we are up a lot higher than the lake at this point. I like the view from this location.

This photo shows the flowering trees, the back of the lighthouse and a view of the light area or lantern room itself.
There is an old anchor on display in front of the lighthouse. I thought it looked pretty cool and tried to get an artsy picture. Not sure if it worked but here it is...
And back on the trail again as we headed a little further north pretty much to the northern end of the peninsula and then started coming back south again on the eastern side of the peninsula. Once again I remembered some pretty steep hills in this area.
The photo above is Nicolet Bay on the eastern side of the peninsula. There is a big parking area here with piers and places to launch boats I believe.
There is a campground right next to the trail and a park a little further down the trail as you get back on the trail from the Nicolet Bay parking area.

The Door County Sunset Photos
Door County has some beautiful sunsets in this area. Although these sunset photos were not taken from the "Sunset Trail", they were taken in the same area in Fish Creek, just south of the park and Ephriam Bay just north of the park. Dale Kiffel took these excellent sunset pics in this area and I just had to include them in this article.
