Power Plant Along the Trail

Power Lines along the Prospect Heights Trail

This part of the Prospect Heights Trail is still pretty nice and goes through some residential areas (on both sides in the photo). You do however have the power lines and huge towers right next the trail.

PH Trail with Powerlines and Trees

This photo shows some of the nice trees that are along one side of the trail with the power lines on the other side. As you will soon see, the power lines lead to their mother ship very soon.

The Power Plant on the Prospect Hts Trail

OK here's the start of the photos that I mentioned about the power plant that  the Prospect Heights Trail passes by. This is located west of Wheeling Road and north of Palatine Road. This is where the trail curves from east to south (as we headed back from Lake Arlington).

Out of place decorative wall and power plant

I thought that this decorative brick wall was really weird here and totally out of place. It is a nice looking brick wall that might make a partial screen for what is behind it but it is just this one section that is connected to cyclone fences on each side.

Well that certainly pretty way to hide that nasty power plant! You hardly even notice it! :-)

The PH bike trail curving past the power plant

This photo show where the PHT curves around the power plant as you head east and south and is what you see from a distance.

THe power plant on the bike trail

And this photo is where the trail curves around the power plant looking from the opposite direction. Yea, it is a little hard to miss the power plant along this trail.

Huge 6 cylinder engine and spark plugs along bike trail???

And finally, one last power-plant-on-the-bike-trail photo. I have no idea what this particular machine is or what it does. It reminded me of a huge 6 cylinder engine with 6 huge spark plugs sticking out of it.

Like I say although it is not what most people consider a scenic view on a bike ride, it can be interesting. and a better photographer might even be able to make this into an artistic photo (as I was trying for).
