The Chicago Lakefront Trail
Shedd Aquarium to Willis Tower

straight and shady section of the Chicago Lakefront Path

Here's a nice straight and shady section of the lakefront path just before Museum Campus (home of the Shedd Aquarium, the Adler Planetarium, Chicago's Field Museum and Northerly Island (formerly Meigs Field airport).

looking north from the lakefront path

This is looking back (north) at some of the Chicago skyline as seen from the lakefront path. I believe there was some construction going on at this time which detracts from this particular photo.

a very interesting looking quadcycle

I thought that this was a very interesting looking quadcycle. I really gotta try one of these things sometime! Maybe I can just give someone, that I see with one, a few bucks (or barter something else, like a photo or something) to take one for a spin.

coming up to the John Shedd Aquarium

This is on the Lakefront Trail coming up to the John Shedd Aquarium (the building straight ahead). Although this is still the Lakefront Trail, it also serves as a sidewalk for Museum campus at this point.

The John Shedd Aquarium

A view of the Shedd Aquarium from the Lakefront Path. One of the cool things about the Shedd Aquarium (aside from actually visiting it) is that it is right up against Lake Michigan. You have the building itself, a very small grassy area then the Lakefront Trail with a wall and a guard rail and a drop off to Lake Michigan. Actually I have a photo of this on the next photo page (photo page #7). The picture probably explains this better than I just did here.

view of the city from the bike path at the Shedd Aquarium

Here's a view of the city from the bike path at the Shedd Aquarium. There are some great views of the city and the Chicago skyline from the Shedd Aquarium and further out into Lake Michigan at the Adler Planetarium. Other than going out on Lake Michigan (like on the boats/ships at Navy Pier), I believe that this is about the best place to get photos of the Chicago Skyline.

The Sears / Willis Tower

A view of the Sears Tower (OK, so now they call it the "Willis Tower". That is still going to take some getting used to for me).

Here's a photo tour of the Chicago Lakefront Bike Path, from the north end of the trail, at Hollywood Avenue (just north of Lincoln Park) south to the end of the trail and back.
