OK, now we get to the crushed limestone and fairly wooded part of the trail. We were on the connecting Robert McClory Trail north of here but this is actually the northern end of the Green Bay Trail.

Note: The photo above was featured in an article on the Green Bay Trail in the May 2007 issue of North Shore Magazine. Actually I did not think that this was the most exciting photo of the trail but I think it fit the theme of the magazine article.

The photo above is where the trail comes out of the woods for a while. The GBT is actually pretty diverse and you go in and out of the woods, through residential areas and through some of the north shore towns along the way.

...there were very few people on the path..

Actually one nice thing about this being a cold day, is that there were very few people on the path... I've been on this trail a number of times now and it can get fairly crowded on warm summer days and peak times (like weekends). These photos were from early spring and the trees had just started sprouting their leaves. As you can imagine, this are is much shadier in the summer.

comming into Ravinia..

The photo above is what you see is as you come into Ravinia from north on the Green Bay Trail. It's actually referred to as "Ravina Music Festival" but we have always just called it Ravinia.

The Green Bay Trail goes right past the entrance to Ravinia. Ravinia has a wide variety of outdoor music events throughout the summer including classical, folk, rock and jazz. I have also ridden by here on the GBT when there was a performance going on and could even catch a little of the show (from a distance)

Ravinia (wide view) from Green Bay Trail

Here is a wider view as you pass by Ravinia (from Easter day 2012). This view is actually facing north. Click on the photo to see the larger and wider view.
