Illinois Prairie Path - Photos
Elgin Branch to Army Trail Road

We rode into Pratt Wayne Woods Forest Preserve on our Illinois Prairie Path ride as we headed south east towards Wheaton. There were a lot of "equestrian toys" in this area for the people that like to horse around here!


I really don't know how some of these things are used or what they are used for... but then again I ride bikes... not horses!!! (at least I don't ride horses very often...)


I am guessing that this thing is for jumping... unless it's some really rugged bleachers! :-) Once again, there were no horses around while we were here. Actually I would really like to see how these things are used.



OK, after we took our little side trip into the Forest Preserve, we got back on to the bike trail once again. We stopped for a quick lunch at a bench along the path (and across from the water) here... The view in the photo above would look much better without the telephone/electric lines but after all we are still in a pretty populated area.


After our lunch we headed back out to the path again. This was a pretty nice, slightly, wooded part of the IPP and that is Dale on his recumbent in the lower left corner of the photo above.

This was actually his first recumbent which was a short wheel base Bacchetta (the pedals are above the wheel on the SWB models). Dale later traded that bent in for a long wheel base (LWB) Easy Rider. I have actually ridden both of these out on the trails and I can tell you that these are very comfortable bikes. Personally, I like the LWB models better myself.

There is a little parking area here just before you cross Army Trail Road. Army Trail Road gets pretty busy at times so you will need to be careful crossing the road here.
