Geneva Spur to West Chicago

This is one of the nicer parts of the IPP Geneva Spur as you get away from the roads and into some nice wooded areas. I believe that the photo above is as we passed by or through Winfield Mounds Forest Preserve. We are still west of West Chicago at this point.

You also pass through some more sunny and open areas on this part of the trail Above is a mostly straight and flat section of the IPP, Geneva spur. This part of the IPP has quite a bit of variety. There are times when you are on a regular bike path, times when you ride along roads and other places where you ride on sidewalks and side roads through subdivisions.


At this point the Geneva Spur goes along the sidewalks through this subdivision. The photo above is as we are coming into the town of West Chicago from the east (heading west on the Geneva Spur).


Following the Geneva Spur on the sidewalks you can see the West Chicago water tower on the right in the photo above.


We stopped at a McDonalds for a quick snack along a terribly busy intersection (at Main Street and Route 59) then we had to ride along some busy roads again (probably the worst part of the Geneva Spur) before returning to the regular bike path again. In the photo above we are back on to the nicer part of the IPP again.


Above is a paved part of the trail that opens up into some nice (almost Prairie like) areas as the IPP runs along a road on the right. Once again more variety (in the trail surface and surroundings) on the Geneva Spur.

Once again we are on a crushed stone trail as we ride through this slightly overgrown part of the IPP before we get to the bridge over the railroad tracks.
