Illinois Prairie Path
Elgin Branch and Geneva Spur Intersection

The photo above is as you get back back on to the Illinois Prairie Path, Elgin Branch once again after Prince Crossing Road. I believe that we were actually on the Great Western Trail before we hit Prince Crossing Road and we took PCR a little too far south but here we are again on the IPP Elgin Branch after correcting our route.


There is a nice little wooded area along this part of the path. I believe that this is the Timber Ridge Forest Preserve. This is getting near the end of our ride on the Elgin Branch of the IPP just before we reached a busy intersection and got on to the Geneva Spur.


This is the intersection of the IPP with Geneva Road. There is a traffic light at Geneva Road and County Farm Road where the Illinois Prairie Path Elgin Branch, Geneva Spur and Timber Ridge Trails meet. The Timber Ridge Trail heads north here and goes though Timber Ridge FP and connects to the Great Western Trail.


This is where we got on the Geneva Spur heading east again through West Chicago, Geneva and back to the Fox River Trail. You actually ride pretty close to busy Geneva Road at this point before you get back on to the regular bike path again.


There are signs for the Geneva Spur and there are a some sections that run along the road and other places where you get away from the roads and back onto a regular bike path again. This was actually not my favorite leg of the IPP but in our case it worked out pretty well since we made a clockwise like loop on the Elgin Branch and Geneva Spur to and from the Fox River Trail.


The Illinois Prairie Path, Geneva Spur  markers (with the distinctive emblem) posted along the path. The Geneva Spur goes mostly east and west (west for our ride) and connects to the Fox River Trail in Geneva.
