Bridge out of Lavalle on the 400 State Trail*

Here's a colorful view of the bridge leading out of Lavalle with an interesting Yield sign. You probably need to click on the photo above for the larger version to make it out but it has a bike with arrows pointing to walkers and a horseback rider (which I assume means for bikes to yield to walkers and horseback riders) and an arrow from the walker to the horseback rider (same idea I guess). OK, maybe it's not that interesting but it was the first time that I've seen this kind of a yield sign.

Fall color and lake along the 400 State trail

Another colorful scene as the trail passes by a lake and open area on the right. I didn't see any signs on the trail but I looked this up later on a map and I believe that this is Hemlock Slough. This lake (or slough if you prefer) is in Hemlock-Sauk Park off of Dutch Hollow Road.

Fall colors and rock formation along the trail

There are plenty of beautiful rock formations along the trail. I was trying to get the rock formation, the lake and the fall colors in the photo above. I guess that I got them all.

lake view alonside the trail

Here is a wide angle view of the lake (or Hemlock Slough) along the 400 State Trail (between Lavalle and Wonewoc). This photo is from the other direction as we were heading back from Elroy. The photo above is actually multiple photos stitched or merged together for the panoramic view with one of my photo editing programs.

Fall colors from the 400 State Trail*

We had some beautiful fall colors on our 400 State Trail ride. The view above is just one example.

400 Trail passing between rock walls

This was a colorful and interesting part of the trail as it passed between some hills and rock walls on both sides. The trail was almost completely covered with leaves in the photo above.

400 State Trail covered with fall leaves

The photo above gives you a little wider view of this scene. Since the 400 State Trail was converted from the railway, I'm sure that this part of the trail was dug through (or blasted through) the hill which now make up the rock walls on both sides.

Here's the photo tour of the 400 State Trail Bike trail from October, 2011.
