The 400 State Trail Photos
Wonewoc to Union Center

Scenic old building in Wonewoc*

Another very interesting old brick building in Wonewoc as seen from the 400 State Trail as we continued our ride north and west. I thought that this was another very artistic photo that my friend Dale took as we passed through town. If you click on the photo for the larger version you can see the full detail of the building that the photo captured.

High grasses along the 400 State Trail

Here's a view of the 400 State Trail and high grasses as we head out of town. I always liked the way that these tall grasses with the feathery tops looked and they were also a really nice color at this time of year.

High grasses glowing in the sunlight along the trail*

I believe that this photo is in the same location as the one above but it is later in the day when we were on our way back. What a difference in the way the light hits the white fluffy stuff!

Canopy of trees over the 400 State Trail

A view of the canopy of trees over the 400 State Trail. The photo above is outside of Wonewoc now (north and west of the town) and before we hit the Hillsboro State Trail intersection (the photo below).

Hillsboro Trail sign

Just before Union Center the 400 State Trail intersects with the Hillsboro State Trail. The Hillsboro Trail goes into the town of Hillsboro and, based on the sign above, it is 5 miles away. The Hillsboro Trail heads west and a little south of here and the 400 State Trail turns a little to the north here.

The start of the Hillsboro trail from the 400 State Trail

The photo above is looking down the Hillsboro Trail from the entrance to the trail at the trail intersection. You probably can't read the sign on the right (unless you click on the photo above to view the full size photo) but the top part says "Welcome to Hillsboro Trailblazers Snowmobile Trail System" so I guess this is a popular snowmobile trail in the winter.

Pavilion at Union Center

There is a pavilion and picnic tables next to the trail as you ride into Union Center. This was a nice, clean pavilion and we took a break here for a snack.

Union Center is where the 400 State Trail crosses Route 33, which has been going the same direction and near this trail since we started in Reedsburg, heads north and runs parallel to Routes 80 and 82 into Elroy (where the 400 Trail ends and connects to the Elroy Sparta Trail).

Here's the photo tour of the 400 State Trail Bike trail from October, 2011.
