Into Wonewoc Wisconsin

Blue and green moss covered rocks along the trail

Continuing on the 400 State Trail between the Wisconsin towns of LaValle and Wonewoc. Sometimes it's hard to get the photos to capture the colors and scenes along the trail. I was trying to emphasize the blue and green moss covered rocks on the right had side of this photo. The larger version will show this better.

Bridge , rock face and fall color along the trail

A scene as we pass over one of the many bridges on the 400 State Trail. The rock formation seen ahead to the left in the photo above is very typical for this part of Wisconsin.

Recumbent Bike Rider on 400 State Trail

The photo above is my friend Dale on his Tour Easy recumbent. The Tour Easy is a long wheel base recumbent (the pedals are behind the from wheel). I have ridden this bike myself on a few occasions and I can tell you that this kind of bike is really comfortable especially on long rides. I also like the view that you get from the upright, easy rider like position. I am hoping to get one of these bikes myself soon.

Rock wall scenes along the 400 State Trail

More color and rock wall scenes along the bike trail.

A view from the trail outside Wonewoc

This is what you see from the trail as you come into the town of Wonewoc. The road to the right is Route 33 which runs the same direction as the 400 State Trail and is usually not too far from the trail.

bike, canoe, kayak rentals along the trail in Wonewoc

As you see by the signs on this building, they have bike repairs and rentals, canoe rentals and kayak rentals here. The trail runs behind this building.

Kayak and old building in Wonewoc*

This is an interesting view of a kayak that was on a trailer next to the bike trail with one of the old Wonewoc buildings in the background. If you check out the full size version of this photo you can see the detail of the old brick building in the background.

My friend Dale usually gets the more creative photos along the trail. I have had a tenancy to try to document the trail itself where we have been in my photos (although I am branching out to some more artistic photos a little now). We actually both had our cameras on this ride so you get the best of both styles.

Here's the photo tour of the 400 State Trail Bike trail from October, 2011.
