Livestrong Brand Fitness Bike Review
Livestrong Exercise Bike Review

Update: 12/31/2013

Unfortunately, even though the Livestrong Foundation and Livestrong Fitness products have cut all ties to Lance Armstrong, the Livestrong name has been severely damaged by the Lance Armstrong disaster.

Consequently new Livestrong Fitness Bikes and Fitness Products are no longer being manufactured. Johnson Fitness (the maker of Livestrong fitness products) will still honor the existing warranties on the Livestrong products that are under warranty but there will be no new products and the products that are still available in stores will no longer be available once existing stock has been sold.

The brand review article below was originally written before the Lance Armstrong disaster and updated periodically. One thing that has not changed is that the Livestrong fitness bikes are very well made, high quality bikes even though their sales have suffered due to Lance Armstrong's fall.

Many of these products are still for sale in Canada and you may still find a few of these products available online until existing stock runs out.

For example the Livestrong LS6.0R Recumbent and Livestrong LS5.0U Upright are still available at Amazon (as of today). The pages linked to above have links directly to the Amazon product pages for these bikes.

So if you can find these products new or even used you will still be getting an excellent fitness product.

Original Brand Review:

Livestrong brand Exercise Bikes and Indoor Cycles are upper mid-range and high quality fitness bikes. Livestrong LS9.9IC

Livestrong Fitness Bikes are made by Johnson Health Tech in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin (near Madison).  I had the opportunity to meet with individuals in upper management, customer support and 2 exercise bike and indoor cycle product managers on a recent trip to Johnson Fitness.

I can tell you that the Livestrong brand and Livestrong Fitness Bikes in particular are doing very well and are very successful products for Johnson Fitness.

I can also tell you that the people at Johnson Fitness are committed to quality products, customer support and healthy living. Their contributions to the Livestrong Foundation are a good example of their commitment to overall health and fitness.

This year alone Johnson will be donating a minimum of $4 million to the Livestrong Foundation. That amount will also be increased with the sale of additional Livestrong Fitness equipment.

So, in addition to your workout, the donation to the Livestrong foundation, when you purchase a Livestrong Upright, Recumbent or Indoor Cycle, should help you feel much better too!

Livestrong Indoor Cycles

The original fitness bike that Livestrong produced was the Livestrong LS9.9IC (which is still available in this year's Indoor Cycle lineup). This is the bike that started it all for Livestrong and we have supported this Indoor Cycling Bike on this site for years now.

Some of the key features of the LS9.9IC are the electronic console and belt drive system which were rarely found on Indoor Cycles when this bike was originally introduced. Based on the success of the LS9.9IC many manufacturers are now including these features on more of their training bike models.

Note: If you are new to indoor cycling, keep in mind that, although are Indoor cycles highly adjustable and can be relatively comfortable, they are the least comfortable fitness bike types and are best for serious indoor cycle training, workouts and weight loss.

Livestrong Fitness Bikes

When if comes to the more traditional Upright and Recumbent Exercise Bikes, Livestrong has come out with some new models this year and currently has a full selection of upright and recumbent exercise bikes available (residential and commercial models). Livestrong LS6.0R RecumbentLivestrong has a somewhat larger selection of Recumbent models than they do Upright models.

This year's top-of-the-line (residential) Recumbent, the Livestrong LS6.0R, and this year's Upright model, the Livestrong LS5.0U Upright Bike, both include the Livetrack Interactive console which allows you to track the details of your workout in addition to uploading your workout data to Livestrong MyPlate via the USB port.

If you are not familiar with MyPlate, this is a FREE service offered on the Livestrong website that allows you to track your food and calorie intake along with your exercise and workout information.

Anyone can use the Livestrong MyPlate service (and share workout information with their friends, if they choose), but without the Livetrack Interactive feature, you need to manually enter all of your information. The Livetrack Interactive technology, allows you to automatically upload your workout data to your computer via a USB port.

About-Bicycles Brand Review - Livestrong

The Livestrong brand has not been around as long as some of the other brands but they have become very popular within a relatively short amount of time.

Livestrong's innovative features, such as their electronic consoles, belt drive systems and drop down handlebars on their Indoor Cycles and Livetrack Interactive feature on their Upright and Recumbent models have given Livestrong a big lead on the competition who have later included these features (or similar options) in their own fitness products.

Livestrong has a larger selection of Indoor Cycles, with varying features and options, so you have a good selection of indoor cycles in various price ranges.

If you are reviewing traditional Upright or Recumbent Fitness Bikes, I would recommend the newer models (the Livestrong LS6.0R Recumbent, and the Livestrong LS5.0U Upright Bike) due to the Livetrack Interactive consoles and Livestrong MyPlate interface.

Overall, Livestrong makes very good quality mid-range to high-end residential Indoor Cycles and Exercise Bikes, with some of the most innovative features in the industry, in addition to very durable, high quality commercial models.
