In Dundee the Fox River Trail (FRT) goes through some neighborhoods and past the pavilion shown here as you head south and before you get to the main downtown section
The town of Dundee is a pretty "happening" kind of place along this stretch. There are places for a break (tables and benches) along with food, drinks, music and sometimes live entertainment.
The photo above shows the BBQ stand along the trail. I have never eaten here but it usually smells good riding by and it is a pretty busy place where a lot of people eat and hang out.
In the summer, I have often heard music here. Usually bluesy music either recordings played through their sound system or even live music occasionally.
Along the trail in the busy downtown part of Dundee you reach the Dairy Queen. This is a very popular place for bike riders in the summertime. Nothin like a cold ice cream break on a hot bike ride!
Continuing south on the FRT from the Dairy Queen you need to cross the very busy intersection at Route 72. There is a light here with pedestrian crossing signs but it can take a while to cross at busy times of the day.
Just after you cross Route 72 in Dundee heading south on the FRT you go alongside the road in the photo above. The trail is in terrible shape here for a short time but totally ridable (just slower usually)
Continuing south on the Fox River Trail, south of Dundee and north of Elgin, is a pretty nice part of the trail.
The trail is smooth and mostly straight here with the river often visible on the right and no major intersections to cross.
