The Millennium Trail Fall Photos
Lakewood Forest Preserve

It was a little past peak fall color season for the most part but there were still some areas on the Millennium Trail with some nice colors. The photos in these pages (MT Fall Photos 6 and 7) are all from the Lakewood Forest Preserve area east of Fairfield Road near Davis Lake. I selected this part of this trail for the fall photos here because I remembered that it was very wooded and scenic when I rode this trail in the summer.

Looking up from the trail I had an inspiration! :-) I just liked the way the sunbeams shot out from the clouds.

This is just after you come down the hill before the small bridge that crosses between the two sections of Davis Lake in the Lakewood FP. There are some very large and old trees in this area and a good variety of trees for a nice variety of color.

This was a nice colorful part of the trail as you go uphill just past the bridge between the two parts of Davis Lake that I mentioned above.

The tree on the left had these bright red leaves that I used them to help frame this photo looking out at the a bench and the Millennium Trail.

Just past the bench was another colorful tree cover that seemed to glow when the sun came out in full. Although this was pretty late in the season and I thought that I might have missed the peak fall colors, there was still plenty of color in this area.

This is a wide view of the trail after you take the one mile loop section that goes around the lake and branches off to the Lakewood FP parking off of Fairfield Road. If you click through to the blow up version of this photo you can see small parts of the trail on the left and on the right (and the photographers shadow to the left :-) ).
