Mile marker 5 on the Busse Woods bike trail

This is mile 5 marker on the Busse Woods trail just before you get to the entrance to grove #4 (coming from the elk heard). This is a very wooded part of the trail at this point. I'm not sure if this was the best photo technique but I tried to get the mile markers along the trail, along with the background, to give you a feel for what it is like at these locations.

the Busse Woods bike trail parallel to Higgins...

This is just past grove #4 where the path runs alongside Higgins Road (route 72) on the left with the woods on the right. The trail that goes over Salt Creek is visible ahead.

Bike Path bridge over Salt Creek

This is a pretty long bridge (for a bike path) over Salt Creek which winds through Busse Woods and feeds into some of the lakes.

Kayaks on Salt Creek

As I was crossing the bridge I came across a couple of kayakers on Salt Creek. This is a popular place for boating so this is not uncommon site.

Scenic views on the Busse Woods bike trail

Some of the scenic views off of the trail. These photos were taken in the fall and there were some good colors in places along the trail although it looks a little early for the peak colors for the woods in the distance.

Bike traffic on the Busse Woods bike trail

There are a few bikers on the trail in this photo. This is a popular bike path and it can get very busy at peak times. The guy in white is on a recumbent. When I took this photo (2005) recumbents were not nearly as popular as they are today. You still don't see a real lot of them but I am starting to see more and more as they continue to get more popular. I have ridden a couple of different kinds of recumbents (short wheel base and long wheel base) and one of the nicest things about bents are how comfortable they are (especially on long rides) and just the view you get from sitting upright and back a little.
