Busse Woods Trail - Photos 6
South of Higgins to Bridge (panoramic photo)

This is the path right after you cross Higgins (Route 72)... (I made it!) This is now on the south side of Higgins. This part of the trail, which goes around Busse Lake and some of the other larger lakes in the preserve, might just be the nicest part of the trail.

I tried to get a shot of this tandem recumbent before they got away, but I wasn't quite fast enough on the draw... (with my camera). If you blow up the photo, you can see them a little better. Recumbent bikes have become much more popular even since I originally posted the photo pages. Tandem bents are still fairly unique though.

OK, here's one of the bridges on the west side of Busse Lake. I put together the wide angle view of this one (below) by taking a number of shots, from one side to the other and stitching them together with a photo package...

I think this stitched wide angle view of the bridge came out very nice. You can make out some of the seams if you look closely, but you still get the idea. The view from the bridge is actually really nice and it is not uncommon to see people fishing on and around this bridge.

This is after the bridge, going into the woods... More beautiful fall colors! I just happened to catch that tree on the right at just about its peak fall colors. I wish that I would have taken more photos but I actually already took so many in the process of documenting the trail that I had to draw the line somewhere.

The trail runs back into a small stretch of woods again here. This is just before the Busse Woods boating area. This is actually still a little early in the fall so the fall colors are hardly noticeable here.
