Alexian Brothers to Bridge over 53/355

This is next to Alexian Brothers hospital at the intersection of Beisner and Biesterfield roads. You can continue cross here and may be able to continue on the sidewalks and streets into the subdivisions, but I have not been that way yet... I didn't have enough exploring time on this ride...

I turned around at the intersection above (at the end of the purple branch of the trail) and headed back north again to the leg that goes out to the bridge over the interstate. This is on the way to the bridge over Route 355.

There's the bridge off in the distance. It's a pretty steep climb... (which is much more fun on the way back!) The section of trail that gets you to this point is not that exciting but it is mostly quiet and peaceful. Of course it is not quiet and peaceful on the bridge at all. Nothing like passing over 8 lanes of expressway traffic to break up the serenity of a bike ride through the woods!

Here's a close up of the bike trail and bridge that crosses the interstate. This bridge crosses a major 8 lane interstate so as you can see this is a major structure. It is pretty well enclosed, of course, so you feel pretty safe (unless maybe you have some kind of phobias about this kind of thing).

...and this is the traffic on Route 355 below... It is nice to be on the bike trail and not down there! (as I have been so many other times!). This photo was taken through the chain link fence on the bridge, of course.

The trail goes a little past the bridge and then ends at Rohlwing and White. There is a little forest preserve called Woodland Meadow here with a gravel entrance, so you could park here if you like and take the trail starting from this direction...
