Fox River Bike Trail South Photos
To Tekakwitha Woods

Heading into the Morris Woods Nature Preserve part of the trail (north of St Charles) the Fox River Trail winds through some nice wooded areas next to the river after you go down the steep downhill section that heads out to the river.




After you ride for a while in the woods and along the river you get to another little break in the regular trail where it heads out to a back road.



You just follow this back road for a little while until you get to the path again at Tekakwitha Woods. (Enjoy it because you can't Tak et with ya! (OK, sometimes I use goofy sayings to try to remember the names :-) ). I've taken this little back road quite a few times and there is usually very little traffic on it.

This is the Tekawitha Woods Sign at the top of the big hill before the bridges over the Fox River that are just south of South Elgin. There is a small preserve here, in a wooded area, with a few picnic tables if you want to stop for a break or a snack.

This is just before the steep downhill section.



This is where you go down a very steep hill just before the long wood and steel bridges around South Elgin... You can really get some nice speed going on this hill but then you get thrown on to the narrow bridges below where there are usually people hangin out on nice days so you end up losing your momentum in that particular situation.

This is also the bridge section that was closed off for construction for a few riding seasons (between 2009 and 2011). The construction is complete now and there is a completely new bridge now at the Stearns Road crossing.
