The New Path North of Cubby Bear

Wrought Iron fence next to crushed stone bike trail

This is the crushed stone part of the trail heading south with the wrought iron fence and water on the right as you continue south on the Des Plaines River Trail just before the old break in the trail.

The Lincolnshire Path (DPRT detour)

They call this the "Lincolnshire Path" and it really just goes west for a very short distance out to Milwaukee Road.

In the past, before the trail was extended, you needed to take this path out to Milwaukee Road, continue south and get back on the trail at the Cubby Bear Sports Bar / Restaurant .

See The Path Along Milwaukee Avenue Page Here

for how you had to go in the past.

The new, paved DPRT Trail extension

This is how the new extension looks today. This is behind the Par King miniature golf course on Milwaukee Avenue. This is actually one of the only paved parts of the DPRT.

Looking through wrought iron fence along DPRT

The photo above is looking through the wrought iron fence (or sticking my camera lens between the bars). The pink building is the miniature golf course and in the foreground is what looks like a small railroad track. I'm not sure what that is for.

DPRT extension and branch to Cubby Bear

As you continue south on the trail you can see where the path branches to the right to go into the Cubby Bear parking lot where you used to have to get back on the trail after the ride out to Milwaukee Avenue.

Mile 29 marker on Des PLains River Trail

Back to Mile 29 on the actual Des Plains River Trail. This is actually still the Lake County part of the trail.

Deerfield Road underpass on DPRT

This is coming up to the Deerfield Road underpass on the DPRT. I saw signs that let you know if the underpass is open or not. These underpasses can flood sometimes when the river gets high. No problem at this particular time
