The Wauponsee Glacial Trail

The Wauponsee Glacial Trail is a very nice crushed stone trail that runs from Joliet, Illinois south the the Kankakee River at Custer Park. The trail is a little over 19 miles long and is mostly flat, straight and a pretty easy ride.

* The steel bridge over the Kankakee River at the south end of the trail.

Our Ride on the Wauponsee Glacial Trail

We started our ride on the Wauponsee Glacial Trail (WGT) in Manhattan, Illinois which is about 4 miles from the northern end of the trail in Joliet. We rode south the the end of the trail at the Kankakee River near Custer Park. Our ride was 31 miles round trip.

We rode this trail in September. The surface was in pretty good shape and the trail is not at all crowed in this area. The trail runs mostly north and south through the fields and prairies. I rode the trail with my friend Dale and he got some good photos with his DSLR camera. I only had my phone on this ride but took a few photos and a video to document the ride here.

This trail is great for a nice ride through the country. There are more scenic trails around but I really enjoyed the ride on this one and you can easily do a 30 or 40 mile ride on it.
