The Fox River Bike Trail South - Fayban Windmill Photos

Here's the "Fabyan Windmill" just off the Fox River Trail, at Fayban park in Geneva, Il. The Old Dutch Windmill was purchased by Col. George Fabyan on October 15, 1914 for $8,000.

Here's a side view of the windmill as we approached for a closer look. There is a photo of the windmill in its original location from 1910 in the visitor area near the windmill. Actually there are quite a few photos and a ton of information on this windmill, and its various owners, in the visitor area near the windmill.

This is looking up at the windmill from much closer. The original windmill site, in the early 1900s was York Center.

Check out the detail on the Fayban Windmill Blades in these photos! The close up photos, from Dale, above and below give you a different perspective on the windmill. Most of the photos that you see of the windmill include most or all of the windmill from a distance. These 2 photos really give you a feel for how it looks up close and I think that there are some of the most artistic photos of the windmill that I have seen.

I'm not sure if the bend in the roof here was intentional or not but I love this photo and the perspective that it gives you.

This old, antique windmill makes me thing of the current, power generating windmills that you see in rural areas today. The power generating windmills of today are not nearly as rustic or scenic looking as the old Dutch windmill and if you have ever lived near one you know how bad that can be. I am all for natural energy and I used to think that the power generating windmills were a great idea until I found out how bad the noise and shadows are for anyone who lives near one.
